Hired Swords

The name ‘hired swords’ refers to just that: These men, 700 strong in Absalom, come from a long line of mercenaries. They are the fragmented remains of a once formidable guild that was consulted by Kings and Queens when soldiers were required… for a price of course. Their legacy and tradition has become twisted with the dissolution of the guild and the adoption of other, more ‘savage’, cultures. It was in fact their guild that coined the very term ‘hired swords’…

These scoundrels wield an array of weapons but adorn always the prince’s bloodied white tabard’s. The bloodier the vestment – the more respect it’s wearer has earned among the Hired Swords and the more fear he inspires in those men and women of Absalom. The Hired Swords wear a single braid in their hair – a mark of their loyalty to one another and a symbol of their anticipated unity under Elric the Vicious.
